As a geographer turned interior designer, a research project delving into design at a scale beyond the interior seemed a natural way to explore an aspect of design not covered in my academic curriculum.

Completed as a research project for my Design Issues class in Fall 2015, this paper explores the elements and principles of Traditional Neighborhood Design (TND), how it can be incorporated, the benefits of its application in conjunction with practices and ideas of New Urbanism and landscape design, and case studies of successful incorporation.
